Baiyue focuses on the application of Raman spectroscopy and surface-enhanced Raman spectroscopy in the chemical characterization of airborne particulate matter.

Research interests include soot fingerprinting, spectral library construction, and machine learning methods for particulate matter source identification and environmental monitoring.
